I’ve been reflecting the past few days on what I might like to try to do in the new year. Last year I made some positive changes in my life that I had been meaning to do for a while (exercise more, eat healthier, practice more self care, etc.), so not much was coming to mind at first. Then I remembered a goal that I’ve been hoping to try and achieve since I was in high school: read more!
So, in an effort to encourage myself to accomplish this goal, I’ve decided that I will read one book per month this year. At the beginning of the month I will post about what book I’ve chosen and why, and at the end of the month I will write about my thoughts on the book (and whether or not I was able to finish it). I would love it if this turned into somewhat of a book club, where you guys can read along with me and share your thoughts on the book, and also give me suggestions for books you think I should read! This year I am finishing my last two semesters of college, which means I might not have all the time in the world to be reading for fun. Still, I’ve always loved reading, so I think I can do it!
Seeing as we are already a little ways into January, and I haven’t read in a while, I’m going to choose a book that I’ve actually already started reading in order to give myself an easy start. That book is A New Model by Ashley Graham. I really admire Ashley’s confidence and attitude regarding her body and the body positivity movement, so I wanted to read about her life experiences and possibly gain some inspiration from her. So far I have really been enjoying the book (I’m almost halfway through it), and at the end of this month I’ll write more about my thoughts on the entire thing.
